Reducing Moisture
Excessive moisture in the home can lead to a number of various health problems. High humidity occurs when warm air circulates throughout a space. Warm air holds more water than cool air and when warm air moves through the home, it creates an environment of high humidity. High humidity can cause many issues, both health related as well as damage to the home. The excessive levels of moisture will cause mold and mildew to grow at accelerated rates. This can cause a musty, damp odor to linger in the air and increases the potential for allergies. Even those who are in perfect health can succumb to the effects of high levels of mold and mildew in their immediate environment, but the effects are especially difficult for those with compromised immune systems and for those who suffer from respiratory conditions. The best solution is to use a home dehumidifier.
One room in particular that is extremely vulnerable to high humidity is the basement. Basements are typically cool, drafty areas. When warm air from the remainder of the home mixes with the cool air in the basement, the moisture in the warm air mixes with the cool air and forms condensation. This is the same principle as putting a cold beverage in a warm glass or taking a cold beverage outside on a warm day. The moisture appears on basement walls and ceilings and causes mold and mildew to grow. Placed in the basement, will remove excess moisture and reduce mold, mildew, and allergens.
The dehumidifier system uses a system based upon the principles of refrigeration to remove water and moisture from the air and stores it in a collection pan. The size of your home dehumidifier will determine how much liquid is stored and collected. You will be required to clean the dehumidifier regularly and empty the water. Many people find that using a system with a pump is the best method for ensuring that the water is emptied on a regular basis. This is an excellent addition to every home and basement.
